Somniloquy is sleep-talk.

It occurs when: - transitions between different NREM stages of sleep do not go smoothly - during REM sleep, if there is a break in the normal sleep paralysis (in such cases, the words spoken are usually what the sleeper imagines himself saying in the dream)

Sleep-talking only occurs in 4% of the adult population, but occurs in 50% of children.
