Saint Adomnan was abbot of Iona from 679-704 AD. He was the author of a biography of St. Columba. He wrote The Law of the Innocents which protected women and children in time of war and is regarded as an early example of Christian human rights law. He is regarded as an important figure in Scottish and Irish history.
