Sue Lowden

Sue Lowden is the former chairman of the Nevada Republican Party and represented Clark County in the Nevada Senate from 1993 through 1997, when she defeated the State Senate Majority Leader, Jack Vergiels. She was immediately elected Senate Majority Whip and chairman of the Senate Taxation Committee. Lowden has announced that she is running against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in the 2010 election.

In 1973 Sue Lowden was Miss New Jersey, and finished second in the Miss America contest. [1] She moved to Nevada in the 1970's and became a reporter and anchor at KLAS Channel 8 News. Lowden has spent a career in Las Vegas business, and is currently a Member of the Board of Directors and Secretary-Treasurer of Archon Corporation, which has earned her a net worth of over $50 million. [2]

She is the former President of Santa Fe Hotel and Casino and former Executive Vice President of Sahara Hotel and Casino.
