System of a Down is a four-piece rock band, formed in 1995 in Los Angeles, California. Their style has been classified as "alternative metal", although it is somewhat hard to classify. They are known for their liberal political views and activism, as well as their Armenian heritage. In 2006, the band announced that they were going on an indefinite hiatus. [1]
