Pentagon upgrades

The Pentagon will upgrade their email system. Good move, but not appropriate to me to add as an achievement.[1] --1990'sguy (talk) 13:40, 8 July 2017 (EDT)

UN anti-nuclear weapon treaty

The United States is boycotting a UN treaty to ban the possession and use of nuclear weapons. This is good, but I'm not sure if it should be added as an achievement. This seems like default U.S. policy, and eight other nuclear nations (the only nuclear nations in the world) also refused to take part.[2] --1990'sguy (talk) 13:42, 8 July 2017 (EDT)

Aircraft carriers

Although this new class of aircraft carriers was not a Trump Administration idea, they are beginning to be commissioned in his administration and are thus increasing the number of U.S. aircraft carriers and Navy ships.[3] --1990'sguy (talk) 14:21, 13 July 2017 (EDT)

Voter fraud commission

The establishment of the voter fraud commission is an achievement regardless of what happens next (someone is making the effort to simply check for voter fraud), but it will be interesting to see what happens with the controversy around it.[4][5][6] --1990'sguy (talk) 23:46, 13 July 2017 (EDT)

So the voter fraud commission was disbanded, but contrary to what the White House said earlier, the data it collected will be destroyed: [7][8][9][10] --1990'sguy (talk) 10:12, 10 January 2018 (EST)

State Dept. reorganization

The State Department is thinking about eliminating their cyber office. Something to watch.[11][12] --1990'sguy (talk) 12:44, 20 July 2017 (EDT)

The State Department sent a re-organization plan to Congress that includes closing the office: [13] --1990'sguy (talk) 18:43, 29 August 2017 (EDT)

Transgender military ban

Despite Trump announcing the ban, it will not go into effect until an official action is made.[14][15] We will see what happens. Hopefully, this ban will actually happen. --1990'sguy (talk) 22:54, 27 July 2017 (EDT)

The Trump Administration has started coordinating with the Pentagon for the implementation of the ban.[16][17] --1990'sguy (talk) 22:40, 31 July 2017 (EDT)
The Coast Guard chief has stated his won't follow the transgender ban.[18] --1990'sguy (talk) 17:38, 4 August 2017 (EDT)

Legal challenges

Several courts have ruled against the transgender ban, and the Pentagon appears to have caved and will accept transgender recruits starting January 1.[19][20][21][22][23] I don't think this is over, as the DOJ is still fighting.[24][25][26][27] --1990'sguy (talk) 23:30, 11 December 2017 (EST)

The DOJ will be forced to admit transgender people on January 1, but it says it is not abandoning the case: [28] --1990'sguy (talk) 23:34, 29 December 2017 (EST)
The DOJ and DOD have been criticized for not fighting hard enough for the Trump Administration's position on the transgender ban: [29][30] --1990'sguy (talk) 18:47, 2 January 2018 (EST)

McMaster dumping conservatives from the NSC

McMaster has fired another conservative NSC member.[31][32][33] This is unfortunate and something to watch. This has happened several times already. McMaster belongs to the WH Democrats and must go. --1990'sguy (talk) 19:57, 2 August 2017 (EDT)

This Breitbart article shows the situation is not good at the NSC. Also, McMaster did not fire the Obama holdovers there -- only the conservatives and anti-globalists. --1990'sguy (talk) 22:52, 2 August 2017 (EDT)
If this is true, this is good: "Trump reportedly thinking about making Mike Pompeo national security adviser, shipping H.R. McMaster to Afghanistan" --1990'sguy (talk) 23:07, 2 August 2017 (EDT)
Turns out, McMaster worked for a liberal thinktank that supported teh Iran nuclear deal: [34] --1990'sguy (talk) 17:14, 7 August 2017 (EDT)

Gitmo news

The State Department is still operating the office that oversees the efforts to close Guantanamo Bay.[35] Hopefully the Trump Administration will take action on this issue and stop this. --1990'sguy (talk) 22:24, 5 August 2017 (EDT)

Military refuses to remove Confederate names from base

Good news, in that the U.S. Army refused to remove Confederate names from a military base in New York.[36][37] A nice change from what we've seen in various city governments. --1990'sguy (talk) 17:13, 7 August 2017 (EDT)

Also, the Virginia Military Institute refused to remove Confederate statues from its grounds: [38] --1990'sguy (talk) 22:18, 12 September 2017 (EDT)

Nuclear arsenal upgrades

President Trump stated that he modernized the U.S.'s nuclear arsenal.[39][40][41] This is good news. I won't add this, at least yet, because his tweet (how we know about it) is very ambiguous, and this article seems to dispute this (I have respect for the Washington Examiner, which tends to be relatively conservative). --1990'sguy (talk) 22:49, 9 August 2017 (EDT)

Antifa --> terrorist organization

There is a White House petition to label the Antifa a terrorist organization, and it has received well over the minimum required signatures (including my own, actually) to get an official WH response: [42][43][44][45] Hopefully, the Trump Administration will act on this. --1990'sguy (talk) 18:28, 23 August 2017 (EDT)

Afghanistan -- war authority

The Trump Administration is still operating the war in Afghanistan under an authority enacted by the Obama Administration in June 2016 -- this authority actually seems like a good one, but it replaced one also by Obama that severely restricted the operations of the U.S. military in fighting terrorists.[46] --1990'sguy (talk) 22:00, 25 August 2017 (EDT)

Potential pictures

The U.S. Pacific Command Twitter account has some good pictures (I'm sure all the divisions of the military and broader government do as well), and these have caught my eye. But I will post these here for now:

--1990'sguy (talk) 09:09, 11 September 2017 (EDT)

Defeating ISIS

Interesting article on whether the Obama or Trump Administration played a bigger role in defeating ISIS: [47] The content may or may not be true, but it is still interesting. --1990'sguy (talk) 22:31, 7 October 2017 (EDT)

Military budget

Trump signed a large military budget bill,[48][49] which also legislatively enacts a ban on Kaspersky Lab software.[50][51][52][53] However, this bill does not actually become law until the 2011 sequester law is repealed, so there is no use putting this in the article yet. --1990'sguy (talk) 18:26, 13 December 2017 (EST)

Obama holdovers and national security

Apparently, Obama holdovers at the National Nuclear Security Administration, in the DoE, are undermining U.S. nuclear security through a lack of cooperation with Russia: [54] --1990'sguy (talk) 15:32, 19 December 2017 (EST)

Interesting articles

Here's an interesting article on President Trump's progress with his agenda related to the military: [55] --1990'sguy (talk) 19:27, 26 December 2017 (EST)
