Merge Discussion

I think that e is different enough from ln to warrant a separate article. Ed, why do you think they should be merged? HelpJazz 22:23, 19 September 2008 (EDT)

I see that there are three pages involved. My suggestions:

  • Let the logarithm page exist on its own, with links to and from this one.
  • The "e" page should just link to this, unless we are going to have pages (I hope not) for every letter of the alphabet, in which case a disambiguation clause is needed. The material on the "e" page is very similar to what's here; they should be looked at carefully to see if there's anything on the other page that should be brought over.
  • The picture on this page is terrible! Sorry. Believe me, I know that it's a lot of work to make illustrations for math articles. But (1) the caption does not describe the picture, (2) the picture does not make any point that is relevant to what is being said, and (3) the caption is confusing in that it uses "e" as both a variable ("is the unique number") and a constant (that which we are trying to describe.) Maybe just a picture of the e^x function, saying something along the lines of the function being its own derivative, would be the right thing.

Move article

I think we should move this article to Euler Number. U.U (talk) 23:30, 24 February 2016 (EST)
