: The UFC is definitely professional status, however I would agree that Anderson Silva probably doesn't belong in this list. Also, is this list only for American sports idols (Silva isn't American) or just sports idols in general? --[[User:JimP|JimP]] 18:22, 18 December 2008 (EST)

:::Oh, he's definitely one of the best fighters, and surely a contender for best p4p (with GSP, Fedor and BJ among others) I guess I was questioning the inclusion of an MMA fighter in the list. To paraphrase jpatt, they're uncommon if you don't follow the sport. Whereas most people would probably have heard of Michael Jordan even if they don't follow basketball. Are you quite sure Mike Tyson is a good plan to have? His behavior hasn't exactly been the best. JY23 16:26, 18 December 2008 (EST)

He was the undefeated champ for a good period of time. I agree on the behavior aspect that he could be disqualified, same for Jim Brown.--jpatt 16:52, 18 December 2008 (EST)
...Jack Nicholson? I wasn't aware he's a sports idol... --AlanS 16:40, 18 December 2008 (EST)
Every record Tiger breaks seems to be ones previously set by Nicholson--jpatt 16:52, 18 December 2008 (EST)
...are you sure you don't mean Jack Nicklaus? --AlanS 16:55, 18 December 2008 (EST)
(Please note: I know NOTHING about golf, so this is an honest question based on some googling. --AlanS 16:56, 18 December 2008 (EST))
Ooppsy, got me AlanS. Shows how much I know about golf.--jpatt 18:07, 18 December 2008 (EST)
I changed everything up, now to put the pictures on. JY23 17:10, 18 December 2008 (EST)
I'd like to see Rocky Bleier (Pittsburgh Steelers of the 70's). He is a personal idol of mine. I'll write the page. WesleySHello! 18:05, 18 December 2008 (EST)

I don't know about the addition of Anderson Silva. He is uncommon if you don't follow the sport. I don't even believe the UFC is professional status. I know it is up and coming, the next great sport, but to put him there with the Babe? Even people who don't follow baseball know Ruth was a baseball player/idol. --jpatt 18:12, 18 December 2008 (EST)

The UFC is definitely professional status, however I would agree that Anderson Silva probably doesn't belong in this list. Also, is this list only for American sports idols (Silva isn't American) or just sports idols in general? --JimP 18:22, 18 December 2008 (EST)
