Is this legit? The entire title is a primer to weasel words. It's like writing an article for "People Who Arguably Could Be Considered Historically Important By Certain Individuals With Such An Opinion." And the article itself makes us look lazy- "we haven't done the legwork, but these people could make homeschooling look good if they were, so here's hope"- just comes across poorly. I say we come up with definitive answers for those we can, get rid of the ones who are inconclusive and get rid of this article ASAP. --DReynolds 23:40, 2 March 2009 (EST)

I agree-- otherwise, it's a big round of speculation. The first two on the list seem to have had a mix of homeschooling and other schooling. Stonewall Jackson was most likely first taught by his mother, a schoolteacher, who died when he was six years old. After that, he attended school where and when he could, and also engaged in a good deal of self-teaching. Alexander Graham Bell was schooled at home until the age of eleven by his father.
