Talk:Marmalade

Return to "Marmalade" page.

This is a gag, right? What did oranges have to do with rocketry? --Gulik3 23:56, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

British?

Is British marmalade different than American marmalade? HelpJazz 19:52, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

That entire page was obviously written by a troll. I'll see if I can get something remotely respectable up there. Samd 19:53, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

And not one word about Paddington Bear.

Actually the word comes to us from the Portuguese through French and originally had to do with quinces, not oranges. Latin is in there somewhere, and honey has had a look-in in certain references. Marmalade has a certain - um - complementarity with brown sugar. I have an indescribably moorish glaze for the Christmas ham if anyone's interested (although you'll have to wait nearly a year to try it, unless you have the good fortune to live where I live and celebrate Ozmas in June.} AlanE 00:24, 3 January 2015 (EST)
