Should a trade name be included? I'm inclined to remove Ore-Ida. Any reason to leave it in? DrSandstone 16:18, 23 March 2007 (EDT)

Feel free to remove it. MountainDew 16:18, 23 March 2007 (EDT)

Honestly, another article that appears to be written by a 3rd grader, or an adult equivalent of one.Palmd001 16:19, 23 March 2007 (EDT)

! Part of this article was copied from Citizendium and Wikipedia but the copied text was originally written by me, RJJensen (under the name Richard Jensen and rjensen) and does not include major contributions by others on that site. Conservlogo.png

In fact this entire article was copied from Citizendium and includes many alterations made by others on that site. For example, the sentence "Potatoes also come in a wide range of colors, with skin anywhere from brown to purple to red and white, yellow, red, or blue flesh." has been on Citizendium since before you ever edited it, as have a number of other passages. Can you try to clean out the parts which are not original work? (Sorry to complain, but I think CP ought to take plagiarism seriously). --MarkGall 17:50, 28 September 2009 (EDT)

Citizendium allows all the copying anyone wants to do. The copied parts amount to about 100 words--compared to about 2000 words I wrote. RJJensen 18:15, 28 September 2009 (EDT)
Citizendium is licensed under the [cc-by-sa] license, which isn't the same as all the copying one wants to do: all derivative works must be released under the same or an equivalent license. The CP license allows copying from CP and releasing apparently with no license, so it isn't compatible with cc-by-sa. One possibility would be to relicense certain articles on CP under a compatible license as needed. Of course, I don't want to argue this one too hard as there seem to be many more egregious copyright issues around here. Thanks for clarifying the template! --MarkGall 18:28, 28 September 2009 (EDT)
well let's not be petty. all publishers allow fair use copying of several hundred words. Citizendium does not claim any copyright. RJJensen 18:30, 28 September 2009 (EDT)
Yeah but that's beside the point: Conservapedia commandment 1 demands the material not written by you be removed. Nevertheless, this article hardly will see much traffic, does it matter? Really? JacobB 19:08, 28 September 2009 (EDT)
I've removed the disputed sentence, it's not like it added anything to the article anyways. Case closed. JacobB 19:10, 28 September 2009 (EDT)
Looks like it's all fixed. Thanks, Dr. Jensen! I never would've expected to find the article on potatoes to be interesting, but what do you know? --MarkGall 19:55, 28 September 2009 (EDT)
hold your breath: salt is up next. :) 20:13, 28 September 2009 (EDT)
