Dictionary of American History (2003) has an entry on this party titled "Republicans, Jeffersonian." I took this form of the name and wikified the punctuation. In its first two editions, DAH gave this name as "Democratic-Republican party." The J-R form is used in the latest edition. So the trend among historians is away from D-R. Using D-R leads to the misunderstanding that this was a name the party called itself. PeterKa 09:40, 11 February 2015 (EST)
