This is fairly offensive. One, although sex for pleasure is certainly a common path to unintended pregnancy, it's not the only one. Unintended pregnancies also result from rape, incest, etc. Two, referring to a child as a "consequence" that the mother has to take responsibility for is a horrible attitude to a new life. A baby is a gift from God, not a punishment. That's exactly the kind of punitive attitude that drives the "pro-choice" movement. Three, it's not fair to imply that only women try to escape "consequences". Pepperlynn 23:12, 9 March 2009 (EDT)

I can agree that pleasure is not the only way, I will change accordingly. Point two, you want to rename consequence? How do you say the result of something which you did not wish for? I was giving the liberal attitude, not the Christian attitude when describing a baby. I know he/she is a gift, Barack Obama and the liberals don't. It is in fact 'her' consequence. The male doesn't have to do anything but conceive. I am definitely saying the male is responsible for his actions before and after, but the burden is on the female.--jpatt 23:29, 9 March 2009 (EDT)
I think conservatives sometimes fall into the habit of saying "she must take responsibility for the consequences!" in a tone that almost sounds an awful lot like "suffer the consequences". Anyway, I don't mind the word per se, but taking a tone that can be taken to imply that having a baby is somehow a punishment for sin is playing right into "pro-choice" hands.
