Bob Spink

Removal of BNP link

I've removed the link to the BNP, because I don't think it's fair at all. UKIP are a true conservative party, their policies and beliefs are MUCH closer to the beliefs listed on conservative here. They aren't racists. But the BNP are a racist party. Their leaders have had multiple convictions. The BNP believes in throwing black people out of Britain. I really feel that linking BNP and UKIP marginalises the BNP.

True - but I don't think anybody would stand in the UK and openly say they're against the NHS. It'd be political suicide. I personally feel UKIP are closer to Thatcher's Conservatives than Cameron's Conservatives are now. Do you agree that linking them with the BNP isn't fair? Newton 18:24, 30 March 2010 (EDT)

Yes indeed, which is why I didn't dispute that part of the edit. Yet we both agree there is a long way to go before any party in the UK is truly Conservative, I think? I still hold out hope for the Tories and can't help but think UKIP will be naught but a boost to the Labour party. RobertE 18:27, 30 March 2010 (EDT)

Yeah. I still hold out hope for the Tories, but I really believe that Cameron's a bad move for them. I think William Hague should have taken another go, and we could have stuck with it. My local MP, Philip Davies, was one of the few to vote against the Climate Change bill, which I'm pretty happy with, so he'll be getting my vote. Newton 18:36, 30 March 2010 (EDT)

My own constituency, Eltham, might just flip if we're lucky. I agree that the UKIP is probably closer to Conservative values than the Conservative Party is, but I also believe that the only effect UKIP will have is to allow Labour to win another term. God Bless, TK. I have created Debate:How Should a Conservative Vote in the UK 2010 General Election as a start point for the debate. I know stubs are generally frowned upon but I hope this one will be allowed for now so that it can act as a focus for further debate. I will fill in more detail tomorrow - it's after midnight here!
