Talk:War on Science

Return to "War on Science" page.

I read yesterday that the term "war on science" was mainly coined by the American left in response "global warming" and fossil fuels (see: The War on Science Is Over. The Republicans Won, New Republic, 2018). For the time being, the American left has generally lost the fossil fuel battle. Trump pulled out of the Paris Accords, Trump got OPEC to lower price of oil, etc. I am not against "green energy" as long as its not subsidized by the taxpayers and is economically viable.Conservative (talk) 10:15, 5 January 2019 (EST)

Kinda strange that a leftist at any college defending 191 different human "genders" can sit there and complain we're against science. Go figure that one out. Karajou (talk) 14:03, 5 January 2019 (EST)
Pelosi's House Committee on Climate Change and Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal brings elimination of fossil fuels front and center in American politics again. It's a possible wedge issue among Democrats. It shows how out of touch Pelosi, Progressives, and American media are when the Yellow vest movement was spawned by exactly the reason the new House Committee was created (it shows Democrats, media, and the American public are years behind the current status of the debate). Government action to eliminate fossil fuels is as big a cause of the collapse of the European Union as immigration is. RobSDeep Six the Deep State! 15:29, 5 January 2019 (EST)
I don't know if this is accurate, but I found this interesting: "Since its commercialization in the 1970s, nuclear power has prevented about 1.84 million air pollution-related deaths... Nuclear reactors have caused the lowest number of fatalities per unit of energy generated when compared to fossil fuels and hydropower." - Wikipedia on nuclear power. We would need more high profile documentation of of the anti-nuclear movement from the 1970s to the present to lay along side it. RobSDeep Six the Deep State! 12:06, 7 January 2019 (EST)
