I removed the Hillary quote because the section's introductory paragraph covers everything she said, and in a much more detailed manner. Jirby 23:25, 24 August 2008 (EDT)

 • Why the H--- is this guy not in prison??? ScorpionVote for Pedro 22:49, 4 October 2008 (EDT

Because, Scorpion, there was never sufficient evidence to convict him or anyone else of bombings claimed by the Weather Underground.

Re: removed section

I removed the following section:

Obama has been very unwilling to discuss Ayers for fear that their relationship will scare away swing voters, and the liberal media have been very complicit in whitewashing their relationship.

The first part states as fact something that only Obama knows, and the second part is hardly verified by the source. HelpJazz 22:16, 24 October 2008 (EDT)

I think you should reconsider. The article linked states exactly what the edit suggests (the liberal media, including the NYT, has whitewashed their relationship) and the evidence that Obama is unwilling to discuss Ayers is strong. However, if you still feel otherwise then I won't challenge your view. SMichaels 17:24, 26 October 2008 (EDT)

Soviet sponsored?

Is there a source for that?--Radh 11:26, 19 March 2010 (EDT)

Was the CPUSA Soviet sponsored? Is that the question? Rob Smith 11:52, 19 March 2010 (EDT)
But did the Russians spend money on those WU freaks? I know, that large parts of the GFR/West German New Left received cash from the GDR and that the German terrorists (both the Berlin June2nd and the RAF) did from some point in time have good connections to the East German Stasi, but I cannot yet see the various Japanese Red Armies or even the Black Panthers getting hugh sums of Russian cash. Perhaps via Cuba...But, if Cuba gave large sums to the WU, shouldn't it be Cuban financed? --Radh 12:11, 19 March 2010 (EDT)
You are correct, we'll fix the error. WUO was avowedly Maoist and broke with Soviet/CPUSA sponsorship in June 1969 at the SDS convention. There is evidence, however that the storefront Dr. Quentin Young rented during the DNC riots in 1968, to aid SDS rioters organized by Ayers, was paid for by the KGB. Here's some sourcing on foreign financial aid [1] For example
 • "In early 1969, CPUSA leaders urged Party members to give time and money to New Left demonstrations and causes." p. 13.
 • "after the townhouse explosion, Wilkerson and Boudin obtained money from the Cuban consul in Canada and left for Cuba. Additional inquiry disclosed that the families of Wilkerson and Boudin got the necessary money together to get both of them out of the country. The money was provided to the Ambassador of Kuwait and was forwarded by the Ambassador via diplomatic pouch to either a Cuban Consulate or an anti-war group in Canada and subsequently delivered to the subjects, who according to unconfirmed reports were in Canada during this time. Boudin and Wilkerson thereafter were harbored by a group in Cuba- (433)." p. 16
 • "Radical individuals or groups in this country received monetary and logistical support from the CMUN [Cuban Mission United Nations]. The CMUN included a substantial number of Cuban Intelligence Officers (DGI). Individuals in the United States were meeting clandestinely with these DGI officers. New Left Leaders contacted the CMUN for the purpose of arranging guidance, assistance and refuge. (434)." p. 16. Rob Smith 16:18, 19 March 2010 (EDT)
