The '''Tennessee Titans''' are a [[National Football League]] ([[NFL]]) team based in [[Nashville]], [[Tennessee]]. They are members of the [[American Football Conference]] (AFC) South Division.

==History and League Success==
The team was orignally known as the Houston Oilers, a charter AFL franchise formed in 1960.  They remained in Houston until a controversial relocation to Tennessee in 1997, playing under the name "Tennessee Oilers" for the following two years (the first year in Memphis before finally moving to Nashville the following year).  The team took its current name in 1999, the same year they moved into their new stadium.

The team has made the [[Super Bowl]] only one time, in 1999, losing to the [[St. Louis Rams]] on literally the last play of the game (coming up one yard short of the winning touchdown). On the way to the Super Bowl, the Titans defeated the [[Buffalo Bills]] with one of the most controversial plays in NFL history, known as the Music City Miracle.<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMca3YJWbAQ</ref>  As the Houston Oilers the team won the first two AFL championship games in 1960 and 1961.
