Marvel's The Avengers is a 2012 superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics series The Avengers. It was released to theaters on May 4, 2012. It is produced by Marvel Studios and is the first Marvel Comics film adaptation to be distributed by Disney, Marvel's new parent company (although the logo for Paramount Pictures, former distributor of Marvel Studios films, appears on marketing materials and in the film's opening titles in place of the Disney logo). The movie is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a series of films produced independently by Marvel which are set in the same universe. It is widely considered to be one of the greatest comic book movies of all time, holding a 92% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the second highest rated superhero movie on the site next to The Dark Knight

Divinity
The film includes the characters of Thor and Loki, who are actual Norse demigods. Although the character of Captain America is shown to refuse to recognize the characters as gods in the film; in a scene in which a character warns him of their demigod powers, he responds, "There's only one God, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that!".
