The Daily Show is an infotainment program that airs on Comedy Central. It has won multiple awards, and is known for its comedic satire of the news.[Citation Needed]

Early Years

The show was originally hosted by Craig Kilborn, but in 1998 Jon Stewart replaced Kilborn.

Jon Stewart on The Daily Show

Stewart is best known as the host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show. He often mocks the President, the war in Iraq, Congress, and foreign policy. Correspondents

The correspondents tend to be somewhat liberal, and do different "news stories".[Citation Needed] These segments are usually aimed at poking humor at and exposing the hypocrisy the political party in power. Thus, Stewart began by mocking of Republicans, but now makes fun of Democrats, as well as other topics in the news. Some argue that he makes conservative positions (such as gun rights, pro-life, or Christianity) seem foolish.[Citation Needed] One segment in particular, "This Week In God" mocks religious values, and the true living God.[Citation Needed] Many would argue instead that this segment does not attempt to invalidate the values of Christianity or the true living God, but rather mocks the hypocrisy of a small percentage of Christians that have recently gained a loud voice in American politics.
