The Sex Pistols was a British punk band in the 1970s. They are considered to be the band that initiated the punk rock movement in the U.K.
They were blatantly liberal, and made fun of Conservatives' pro-life beliefs with their song "Bodies," from their "Never Mind The B******s" album.
The band was originally comprised of vocalist Johnny Rotten (John Lydon), guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook, and bassist Glen Matlock. New bassist Sid Vicious was drafted into the band when Matlock left. Despite popular belief, no one in the band took drugs except Sid Vicious, and Vicious only used drugs with his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen.
The Sex Pistols, in their early days, used the term "anarchist" for shock value, and helped shaped the way anarchy was perceived in the public eye. They also made fun of Christians by calling themselves "antichrists", for which they were beat up on several occasions. However, they are still a balanced, wholesome band, and they teach core values such as not lying, being loyal, following your dreams, and leaving the innocent alone.
Sid Vicious
Sid Vicious (real name John Simon Ritchie, 10 May 1957 - 2 February 1979) was the bassist for The Sex Pistols. Notorious for his wild persona and "live fast, die young" attitude, he died of a heroin overdose in February 1979, while awaiting trial for his girlfriend's murder. His time in the Sex Pistols is documented in the popular 1986 film Sid and Nancy.
