The Treaty of Versailles was the peace treaty that ended World War I. It was made between the Allied Powers and the Central Powers, and written and signed in a famous palace in France (Versailles). It was signed in June of 1919, several monthes after armentice day (when the fighting stopped). Although this treaty brought one war—World War I—to a close, its terms set the stage for the horrific war Second World War.
