Theresa May (Born October 1, 1956) is Prime Minister of the UK and leader of the Conservative Party. She replaces David Cameron after he announced his retirement following the Brexit campaign. One of her first actions as Prime Minister, she shuttered the Department of Energy and Climate Change. [1] From 2010 until becoming Prime Minister she was the Home Secretary, in which role she supported the introduction of homosexual "marriage" in England and Wales.[2]
In March 2017, after a deadly major Islamic terrorist attack in Westminster, May refused to admit that the attack was actually Islamic and called Islam a "great faith" — overlooking key facts about Islam.[3]
May officially initiated Brexit on March 29, 2017.[4][5]
May and LGBT Rights
In the past, Theresa May voted against equalising the age of consent for same-sex interactions, voted twice against permitting same-sex couples to jointly adopt children, and voted against a bill that would repeal Section 28, an education regulation that forbid teachers to speak about homosexuality at all unless it was related to STDs.[6]
