Thrace (colored dark orange), superimposed over modern state borders.

Thrace (Greek:Θράκη) is a historical geographic region in southeast Europe. Due to its strategic position between many important empires (The Achaemenid Empire, Ottoman Empire, Roman Empire, etc.), it has always been a hotly contested piece of land. Currently, Thrace lies in parts of Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria.
