Toast is a breakfast food consisting of browned bread usually served with toppings such as butter jam, Vegemite, or peanut butter. Toasting makes the bread warmer and crunchy and also hides the taste of stale loaves. Bread can be made into toast using a dedicated toaster or griller, or by holding it over an open fire. Plain toast is bland and easy to digest, making it suitable for young children and the ill.
