Tooth Fairy

The Tooth Fairy is a fictional fairy that puts money under young children's pillows after they lose a tooth. Similarly to Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Sandman, the Tooth Fairy was brought to the United States from German-speaking countries, the Low Countries, and Scandinavia. Tooth Fairy legends also exist in the British Isles, much like legends of the other three aforementioned characters. In French-speaking countries and regions, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Latin America, the Balkans, and Eastern Europe, they alternatively have a mythical mouse who does the same thing as the Tooth Fairy (rewarding children with money after losing their teeth). Many countries in the Middle East, Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and Asia have entirely different practices when it comes to children losing teeth, often not involving any mythical creature.
