The '''United Press International''' ("UPI") is a news organization that has provided stories for over 100 years to newspapers and other media outlets.<ref>https://www.upi.com/</ref>  It has been a competitor to the [[Associated Press]].

It was founded in 1907 by newspaper publisher E.W. Scripps, who owned a chain of newspapers.  It has undergone several changes in ownership since then and is not used today as widely as the [[Associated Press]]. UPI was purchased in 2000 by News World Communications, an international media company founded by [[Sun Myung Moon]].
