Universal Orlando Resort is a theme park resort located in Orlando, Florida, owned by Universal Studios, a part of the larger media empire NBC Universal. It is the second largest themed attraction in the state of Florida, after Walt Disney World.

The resort originally opened with the sole park, Universal Studios Florida on June 7, 1990, before being expanded into a larger resort complex (including two parks, a shopping complex and three hotels) with the opening of the Islands of Adventure park in 1999.
