The East Midlands is a region of [[England]]. It comprises of the Counties of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire and south and central Lincolnshire.
Peterborough in Cambridgeshire and Burton_Upon_Trent in Staffordshire are often included but not officially part of the region.  Population 4,500000. The largest city in the region is Leicester however Greater Nottingham is the largest urban area which itself is part of the unofficial Nottingham/Derby/Mansfield metropolitan area.
