Articles

I assume you wrote them.--JamesWilson 20:56, 22 August 2011 (EDT)

Yes, I am the author of the two articles. BHathorn 22:43, 24 August 2011 (EDT)
Then how is it that a Wikipedia editor doesn't know how to format pages? ~ JonG ~ 12:08, 30 September 2011 (EDT)

Anita Perry

The section you've added about her brother is almost half of the article, and would probably fit better in the Rick Perry and/or G.W. Bush articles. It was the interaction between the men that's caused whatever stress there might be. The way the section in the article is written, Mrs. Perry doesn't appear to be involved at all, other than being a sister and wife. --SharonW 12:08, 30 September 2011 (EDT)

Article format

I've tried to fix the formatting and references on your article Chuck Hopson. Please take the time to correct your other articles, and try to use the correct formatting on any new articles you write. Thanks! --SharonW 15:53, 30 September 2011 (EDT)

Articles from WP

Could you please attribute them from WP written by you on the talk page? There's a template for it, and I'll find you the link. Thanks!--James Wilson 19:02, 13 November 2011 (EST)

! This article or part thereof was copied from but the copied text was originally written by me, , (under the same name) and does not include alterations made by others on that site. Conservlogo.png
There you go!--James Wilson 19:06, 13 November 2011 (EST)

Congratulations

Congratulations, your account has been granted extra rights (blocking and SkipCatcha)!--Andy Schlafly 23:03, 15 November 2011 (EST)

Bryan Hughes

The Bryan Hughes article you wrote needs to have the in-line references fixed. Was it copy/pasted from somewhere? If it was, and you wrote the original, the talk page needs a disclaimer. --SharonW 12:50, 24 November 2011 (EST)

Edit reversion

I'm curious why you reversed my edit about the name format for Ray Garofalo? The proper format for names is First Middle "Nickname" Last". SharonW 15:03, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

I don't know what was done. The name was misspelled "Garofolo in the heading, and I corrected it to Garofalo. I did not know that I had altered the name. Sorry for the confusion. BHathorn 18:16, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

Shreveport Journal.

Any reason why you took out these ref tags? MattyD 21:29, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

No, I don't know what happened. The article could not be edited on Sept. 11. BHathorn 22:15, 11 September 2012 (EDT)

Reference tags, again?

This edit leaves all kinds of weird stuff in the text of the article. what are you trying to do? MattyD 11:38, 14 September 2012 (EDT)

Are you saying not to use <ref name=> ? Many of the current articles I checked are not allowing editing today. Davidspencer 01:25, 15 September 2012 (EDT)

This one is really weird as well...

Look at Four Price after you made this edit]. As they say, "that ain't right. Please, tell me what you're trying to do with the references and I'll try to help you out, but right now, it looks unreadable. Thanks! MattyD

I was just updating the story and putting <ref> in front of cite web and </ref> at the end of the reference. In the past this has been no problem, but for the past two weeks, it causes the story to go haywire, and the <ref> and </ref> disappear. Some of the stories, such as Gene Reynolds and A. Roswell Thompson, are also locked up and can't be edited. BHathorn 10:50, 15 September 2012 (EDT)

I have repaired Price, Reynolds, Thompson and will check on others. BHathorn 11:50, 15 September 2012 (EDT)

NOTICE:

MattyD, Can you permit me back into Conservapedia. I can only access it at the public library; not at home. Thanks, BHathorn 15:39, 19 September 2012 (EDT)

No, I cannot. You need to ask an admin: ASchlafly, Karajou, Ed Poor, Conservative, JPatt, etc... MattyD 15:47, 19 September 2012 (EDT)

Browser issues

Do you use the same browser at both home and in the library? What browser do you have at home? Do you have a javascript plugin installed in your browser? Thanks, Wschact 06:06, 21 September 2012 (EDT)

I don't know about the brower, but once again as of Sept. 21, I can access Conservapedia at home. Thanks, BHathorn 08:38, 21 September 2012 (EDT)

Thanks for your patience.--Andy Schlafly 12:07, 21 September 2012 (EDT)

Articles you've created.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I believe that articles about cities are titled just by the name of the city. You've created a bunch that are titled "City, State." You might want to see if you can bring them in line with the existing style. Peace, etc. MattyD 12:00, 25 September 2012 (EDT)

What about cities with the same name in various states? BHathorn 12:02, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
Like Portland? MattyD 12:04, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
You may have to set up redirects or get a sysop to move the articles for you--it's the titles that need to be changed more that the first sentence. MattyD 12:07, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
It should be a case by case thing. Portland is also an historic port-city in Victoria, Australia. There is the famous Alexandria in Egypt. And so on. Click on Kingston - there are many many more towns and cities of that name around the world founded by Brits during the colonial era and named after their home town. I would mention the state unless you are sure it is unique. AlanE 18:45, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
An example of what can happen. In March 2007 an edit to Archimedes mentioned the tyrant of Syracuse with a red link to Syracuse. In October 2007 an article was created for Syracuse New York, heading: Syracuse This enlivened the link in the Archimedes article to make it look (to the very ignorant) as if he lived in upstate New York. It's fixable but would not have happened if the American city had been headed "Syracuse N.Y." or similar. AlanE 19:37, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
I also favor the city, state format for article names. Wschact 21:42, 25 September 2012 (EDT)

Does Conservapedia not use disambiguation pages for such things? MattyD 21:57, 25 September 2012 (EDT)

Yes it does. But Conservapedia is not particularly good at "paperwork". Everyone is focused on their own little realm. The person who wrote "Archimedes" didn't give a toss about the chance that someone would enliven the Sicilian Syracuse with the American one. There were editors who cared but one by one they disappeared or were rooted out by TK because they had possibly shown up across the road at you-know-where at some stage. There is one still editing - WesleyS (hi Wes!) - but he can't be everywhere. Look, let's talk on my talk page. AlanE 22:34, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
Archimedes has his home back, and it's not in New York; try making good corrections to paperwork, and don't worry too much about someone else's "realm". There's always something else to add to  :) Karajou 23:08, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
Thank you for taking the time to fix this. To me, we all owe a duty to our users/readers. That should motivate us to leave our own comfort zones in order to build a better encyclopedia overall, rather than "realm" by "realm". Wschact 23:34, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
Yes, thanks. Perhaps not so much "realms" as demesnes. Every time I have come across a failure in the "paperwork" I have either fixed it or tried to bring it to someone's attention. It hasn't always worked. If you were to guddle into my edits over the years you would come across my frustration. I have been banned for this, because I haven't always been "polite" in my frustration. AlanE 00:43, 26 September 2012 (EDT)

Cattle Kate

Why does this article seem to be about someone called annie instead of kate ? Also why are these articles being copied directly from wikipedia ? Dvergne 21:25, 3 January 2013 (EST)

All you articles should also be classed as copied articles as they are from WP Dvergne 21:28, 3 January 2013 (EST)
I was just wondering about the 'Kate' thing as well. WesleySHello! 21:30, 3 January 2013 (EST)
Again I ask the question why where the articles you are posting deleted from wikipedia ? Can you please answer this question ? Can you also start using the copied from template. Dvergne 21:51, 3 January 2013 (EST)
I was blocked from Wikipedia, and the articles were removed. BHathorn 21:55, 3 January 2013 (EST)
And what was the reason for the blockage ? What username did you use when creating these articles ? Dvergne 21:56, 3 January 2013 (EST)
There really was no reason that I understand. They said I violated copyright by not paraphrasing properly in several instances, but I did not. I gave attribution and gave the notations. I used the name "The Good Grinch". BHathorn 21:58, 3 January 2013 (EST)
Again can I ask you to use this; :{{Copied from|site=Wikipedia|user=BHathorn|site user=}} template instead of adding a talk page message ! Dvergne 21:59, 3 January 2013 (EST)

Do I still use this ""Copied" if the article is not on Wikipedia? If so, where do I put this label? (unsigned by BHathorn)

You would, however you would change to |site= to the site in which it was copied from. You also need to make sure that it was copied legally and not illegally. Dvergne 22:09, 3 January 2013 (EST)
Dvergne, I did not actually copy the articles from Wikipedia. I had them on my own computer file and adjusted the links, etc. It is impossible to copy these articles from Wikipedia, as there is no trace of them there. If I did not have my own copies of the articles, they would have been lost. BHathorn 22:16, 3 January 2013 (EST)
Fair enough, I suggest you add this experience to the some of the censorship at wikipedia articles here. Dvergne 22:26, 3 January 2013 (EST)
If I added my experiences with Wikipedia, it would take many, many screens and would bore you to tears. I doubt many would believe me any way. Ultimately, I can't figure out how Wikipedia stays afloat considering the way it treats the writers. Any writer there must have his own agenda, whether he admits it or not, and one's agenda may not be in line with the grand poo-bahs there. BHathorn 23:13, 3 January 2013 (EST)

How to download photos

I can't find the directions on downloading photos. Can someone direct me to the instructions? Thanks, BHathorn (talk) 11:37, 2 May 2016 (EDT)

This is a bit of an old question--I don't know if you've gotten your answer yet. I don't know of any directions on CP, though other sites such as wikihow offer some. In general, right-click on the image and select the option labeled something like "Save image as..." or "Save as..." You may find this option labeled differently between different Internet browsers. They you simply select a location on your computer to save the file, and click the "save" button. In Chromium-based browsers such as Google Chrome, you may need to download it first, then find it in the bottom bar of your browser and move it to somewhere you can get at later. Does this help? --David B (TALK) 10:17, 29 July 2016 (EDT)

I don't look at my user page much, and just saw your question. DavidB4 told you how to download a photo from Conservapedia. I suspect that you want to upload photos to Conservapedia. First, find a photo that you can share (perhaps following the instructions above) or the URL of the photo on flickr or Wikimedia Commons. Then leave a message on Conservapedia:Image upload requests and DavidB4 will upload it for you and tell you the name of the file that he created. Thanks for all that you do for CP. IRC

Hello,
After some discussion (on my talk page and Andy's) it has been decided that I start an Internet Relay Chat channel for Conservapedia, since our old one has been dead since 2009. It is now registered and somewhat set up. I don't know if you use IRC or are interested in doing so, but anyone with block privileges on Conservapedia can also get block privileges on the new IRC channel. Unfortunately, IRC accounts are deleted after 30 days of being unused, so unless you plan on using the IRC at least once a month, there is probably not much point in registering. In any case, feel free to try it out--if you account gets deleted, we can always make another one later. If you are interested, please let me know!
The IRC channel is: #conservapedia @irc.accessIRC.net
Let me know if you have any questions or need anything else, also! --David B (TALK) 15:41, 11 April 2017 (EDT)

New Template

Hello. I'd just like to inform you that it would be greatly beneficial if you were to assist on working on the following newly created template; Template:Bible Cities

This template was created less than a week ago, and is an attempt to record all the biblical cities of the Old and New Testaments. It would be helpful if you, and other fellow editors at Conservapedia, were to assist in creating articles describing these biblical cities. If you are willing to start making some of these pages, but are not exactly sure how to approach the task, I'd suggest looking at Rhegium or Beeroth, two very (very) recent pages created by myself (Shaaraim is another good example) to get a good understanding at how this thing should be done. If you're willing to go above and beyond, take a look at the page Amphipolis, perhaps the best biblical city page to date. Just to note, this request is optional and you may help out on your own volition.Korvex

Attribution

Hi,
I see that several of the articles you have been publishing (including Ray Hunkins and Gene Reynolds) contain text which is very similar to some which is already available elsewhere on the internet. Are you the original author of this text, and just spreading it around?
Thanks! --David B (TALK) 19:43, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

Yes, original author. The Ray Hunkins bio was deleted in 2016 from Wikipedia. BHathorn (talk) 23:31, 4 September 2017 (EDT)

Okay, so then other people copied it from Wikipedia. That seems to makes sense. Alright, thanks for clarifying that! --David B (TALK) 17:06, 5 September 2017 (EDT)

please backup your recent edits

Please try to either save a copy of your edits, or just refrain from editing for the next 24 hours or so. Conservapedia is changing web servers, and there is a risk that pages might be exported before you make the change, meaning your change will be lost. Thanks for understanding! --David B (TALK) 17:48, 12 March 2018 (EDT)
