Guidelines for my talk page
 • Please, no "ping-pong" conversations: if I leave a message on your talk page, please respond there; I'm watching it. If you start a conversation here, I'll reply here, so please watch this page
 • Sign you posts with four tildes, like this: ~~~~
 • At the beginning of each month I will archive all conversations which are at least 1 month and 1 day from the most recent reply.
 • Please, only one picture of Putin at a time. He scares me in large doses.
 • If you have been blocked by me: please do not create a sock and complain on this page! Instead, email me and we can work it out. (You will need a valid, verified e-mail address for this to work).

Anti-religious Bill Maher

Thanks for the heads up. I responded there. HelpJazz 18:37, 4 January 2008 (EST)

Bush Revert

Thanks for resubmitting my edit to the Bush entry. The original version glossed over the nuance of her statement. It was less a threat and more of an over-the-top statement of frustration. --Jdellaro 15:19, 5 January 2008 (EST)

No problem. I had to revert the guy who added stuff right before you, but don't have any easy way to do it, so I reverted both edits then added yours back. HelpJazz 15:22, 5 January 2008 (EST)

Contest4

Hey - I have created Conservapedia:Contest4 and I've set up the talk page to discuss everything that you guys mentioned in your analysis of Contest3 (everything besides what I had already done to the scoring itself). If you don't mind it would be a great help to me if you took a look and made any changes you thought necessary.--IDuan 11:44, 7 January 2008 (EST)

And if you would like to join the contest, I'm sure your presense would be a well received. Learn together 02:46, 12 January 2008 (EST)
I'm afraid I wouldn't be of much help this time. I'll be travelling all day Monday and school starts next Wednesday so I won't have much time during the day. Also, I don't have night editing so I won't be able to help at night, either. HelpJazz 10:52, 12 January 2008 (EST)

KAL 007 relevance

O.K. HelpJazz. Thanks for your note! I think that I need a little help making the connection of KAL 007 relevant to the the topics of Ronald Reagan and Communism (I think that you are referring to my postings on these two). I know that KAL 007 is very relevant to both the demise of Communism and to the funtioning of Reagan as President but apparently I didn't present it cogently and clearly. Can you help me with this? Let me know if I need to present it differently or if you think otherwise. Thanks! By the way, I assume that the Jazz in HelpJazz says something of your fondness for Jazz music. Me too - Ben Webster and the likes. BertSchlossberg 08:27, 11 January 2008 (EST)

The best thing to do is just to write a short paragraph of its own in the relevant section, or just put a link in the "See Also" section. The way you had it we had a paragraph which was all about one subject, except for one sentence that seemed very out of place. I can help if you like, but I don't know much about the KAL.
And yes, my name refers to jazz music :) HelpJazz 16:10, 11 January 2008 (EST)

adding sub-category to existing page

I wish to contribute a new sub-category to an existing page but really don't see how to do so. (If that made no sense, I wish to add "islamic world divisions" which would logically be a branch off of the main entry of "islam".) How do i do this?

Thanks

jrp32

Generally what you would do is create the category by adding it to the page you want (you can do this by typing at the bottom of the article). Then go to the newly edited page and click on the new category. Edit this page and put it in the category you want (so, put at the bottom of this page). It seems a little backwards at first, but you get used to it. If that doesn't make sense just let me know.
That is how you do it, but since you are relatively new I would ask a sysop before making any category changes. I think Philip J. Rayment is dealing with category assignments. HelpJazz 10:00, 16 January 2008 (EST)

Nice catch!

I got "Lotoattack" 1-3, but great job on #5! Apparently he skipped #4.-MexMax 21:17, 22 January 2008 (EST)`

I couldn't let you have all the fun, now, could I? :) HelpJazz 21:39, 22 January 2008 (EST)

Template

Alright, I'll add that photo. Haha, yeah, I'm just really doing things completely randomly, well, not completely randomly. I'm sorry to say that I was completely and unfairly biased in a few picks. I did the teams I root for first (Maryland and Syracuse). I'm so ashamed. Lol, but hey - at my last check i still have 47 more to go (I've done 26), so comparatively, your school was pretty high up there :D --IDuan 22:05, 22 January 2008 (EST)

Hmm, the only complaint I have with that image, is that it might be better if it were just a seal, (see Columbia University, University of Southern California and New York University). But I'll leave that up to you--IDuan 22:14, 22 January 2008 (EST)
Ah, alright, I'll see if I can find one. It's not wasted, though, I can use that image on my user page :) HelpJazz 22:21, 22 January 2008 (EST)

CP: shortcuts

If you have to type CP:MOS to get CP:MOS, it kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? On Wikipedia you can type things like wp:e. This takes you to Wikipedia:E, which is an ordinary redirect page to Wikipedia:Editing FAQ. But how wp: takes you to Wikipedia: in the first place I don't know. It would be good to be able to do the same sort of thing here. Philip J. Rayment 04:17, 24 January 2008 (EST)

It's still slightly easier than typing Manual of Style, which is what I had been typing. My ultimate goal is to somehow get it into the CP lexicon, so that someone with wiki knowhow will make CP:MOS redirect like it does on Wikipedia. My guess is you could just create a redirect in the CP namespace, but since the CP namespace doesn't actually exsist, and I can't delete it if I mess something up, I don't really want to try it myself. I probably won't get anywhere with it, but it makes me feel special nonetheless :) HelpJazz 11:14, 24 January 2008 (EST)
Oops, I missed this reply. I type Conservapedia:Manual of Style then copy and paste the "Manual of Style" part, which is about as easy as what you do. Yes, you could create a redirect in the CP namespace, but as you said, it doesn't actually exist. And Wikipedia doesn't have a WP namespace either, yet somehow manages to do this, which makes me think it's a software setting or something. You could create CP:MoS in the main namespace, but such pages would then show up in the Random Page link, etc., which is not really what you want, and again is not how Wikipedia does it. Philip J. Rayment 19:35, 27 January 2008 (EST)
I'm pretty much a wikinoob as far as behind-the-scenes software is concerned. I don't know I'm already kind of bored by the idea anyway, so I may go back to doing it the way I used to (which is the same way you do it). HelpJazz 19:39, 27 January 2008 (EST)
