Rugby World Cup

Do you doubt the truth of the phrase you wanted cited? Its not a sentiment I share, and its bloody hard to find a cite for that sort of thing, but I don't think the sentiment is untrue for a casual fan. I know from talking to non-rugby people that the low number of tries and the general style of play turns a lot of people off. It doesn't turn me off, nor perhaps you, but I think it undisputable that it turns many off. --DamianJohn 17:30, 12 February 2012 (EST)

Hi Damian, In [Rugby World Cup], the phrase "the sudden death nature of the later stages tend to produce dour rugby that is often unattractive to casual fans" may or may not be true, but it looks rather like opinion and contains vague words "tend to produce", and hence needs to be attributed to someone. If no attribution can be found then the phrase should be deleted. I believe that this approach is in accordance with the Conservapedia Commandments and the Manual of Style. Well, perhaps, but there is also points 10 and 13 in the differences with Wikipedia page to consider which is appropriate here. Remember also that on this website, personal conversations are a sufficient source for observations. I do hear what you are saying, but I think that the claim being made is so obviously true, that the referencing standards of this website do not require a cite. --DamianJohn 13:32, 13 February 2012 (EST)

As someone who has a scientific background, I'm rather unhappy with the phrase 'obviously true', since there have been plenty of examples over the last 1000 years or so when what is 'obviously true' turns out to be false. Another question: what is 'dour rugby'? Unless you can provide an attribution I would suggest toning the comment down a little to read at the end: "turns some people off." I believe that 4 February 2012 was when I first registered on Conservapedia. My user name was chosen in accordance with CP Guideline: "As a sign of good faith and accountability it is recommended that editors select a user name based on a permutation of their real name.". It appears that on Feb 4, 2012, your User page and talk page were caught in a wave of vandalization along with several other users pages, and since you were a new user, and I, a new admin, apparently I deleted the page as opposed to reverting the offending edits. This had the effect of removing the edits in their entirety, so you were then able to recreate your own User page yourself. The action didn't substantially affect your page, however, I would probably choose to simply revert the edits if I were faced with this same situation today, with a little more experience as an Admin.
