Locked roster

I've unlocked the roster of the Philadelphia Eagles, so you can update it if you wish. If more rosters need unlocking, let me know. Philip J. Rayment 04:25, 13 November 2008 (EST)

Thanks. There were a couple, and I'll let you know what they are once I've compiled a list. Honestly, though, it seems pointless to have them, but someone took the time to compile them, so we might as well do good by them. WesleySHello! 08:43, 13 November 2008 (EST)
The others are Cleveland Browns/Roster and Indianapolis Colts/Roster. Thanks! WesleySHello! 09:46, 13 November 2008 (EST)
The first of those two is not locked, and the second I've now unlocked. Happy editing. Philip J. Rayment 20:30, 13 November 2008 (EST)

Vandalism

Thanks, Wesley. I guess some people who cannot face the truth decide to attack the "annoying revealer". I suppose we might call this liberal intolerance. --Ed Poor Talk 15:29, 19 November 2008 (EST)

No problem. As active as you are within the site, I suppose you inevitably become a victim of the senselessness of others. WesleySHello! 15:32, 19 November 2008 (EST)

thanks

Thanks for adding the categories. Very useful! RJJensen 15:57, 19 November 2008 (EST)

Just trying to do my part. To think I'm still in the A's of the uncategorized list of article. There is a world of work ahead... WesleySHello! 15:59, 19 November 2008 (EST)

Cats

Were you planning on the (cat (literally)), and if so, for how long? (Terrible pun, wish I'd thought of it, bravo.) JANorton 18:16, 22 November 2008 (EST)

Well, I've been adding categories for so long I just got bored...Glad someone caught it. WesleySHello! 18:19, 22 November 2008 (EST)

Thanks

Wesley thanks for your advise. I replied to your letter here coz I don't know how to reply directly to you.

Thanks,man

Hey Wesley, thanks for the warm welcome and the useful links. Also, thanks for the advice about the signatures.I wasn't sure if I should put it on the article or not.--DevenG 23:20, 27 November 2008 (EST)

Not a problem. Just trying to help. WesleySHello! 11:11, 29 November 2008 (EST)

Ditto

I too add my thanks for your work on my articles. Looks good and it makes a difference. The catagories help in research. I like music also. Have been playing saxophone for two years beginning at 68 years of age. Something I've wanted to do for a long time.Bert Schlossberg 03:28, 29 November 2008 (EST)

No problem. Also, it is never too late to start playing music. If I should make it so far, I'd like to earn a degree in music (of some form or another) after I retire. Chances are I won't have time or funds for it now! WesleySHello! 11:11, 29 November 2008 (EST)

Categories

Thanks for all the work on the categories. There's still some uncategorized categories though, if you'd like to help out with those. --Interiot 13:32, 30 November 2008 (EST)

I started to delve into those, but I was working a bit with the 'dead end pages', and quite a few of those cateories are locked from editing. I'll just keep plugging away as time provides. WesleySHello! 20:27, 30 November 2008 (EST)
A bit of mutual stalking going on, eh? --Ed Poor Talk 20:17, 1 December 2008 (EST)
Yeah, you got me there. It's not that I'm stalking, it's just that I check the 'uncategorized pages' page quite often, and if there is a few pages, I'll jump in and throw a cat in it. Leave it to me to miss a category on my own page! WesleySHello! 20:21, 1 December 2008 (EST)
I don't mind you throwing cats, as long as they land on their feet. ;-)
  • Check this out.....this

--₮K/Talk 06:53, 3 December 2008 (EST)

OK, Thanks. I'll keep my eye on the project page. I've begun filing through the current list of categories and trying to make a logical flowchart of how things can be organized. Upon completion I will run it past you before I make any changes. I've begun taking on the Religion categories as well as the Science/Mathematics categories. My thought is to make one supercategory (i.e. Religion) and branch it out into major subcategories (i.e. Religions, God, Creation, ID, People, Places, and Things), then further branch those out until we reach the most basic of categories. If you have other plans for how this all should transpire, please let me know before I get too far in. WesleySHello! 09:38, 3 December 2008 (EST)

Cats

Thanks for the cats, I have no idea how to do those, and it has to be said I do have a tendancy to forget them as well.--Ieuan 11:32, 4 December 2008 (EST)

No problem. This should help, but if there is already a category that you feel your article fits in better, use one of those. Star Wars novels is a niche that should have a category of its own, because there is a Star Wars category and a Novels category, and this is right in between, thus creating its own category. Any questions? Let me know. WesleySHello! 11:38, 4 December 2008 (EST)
Thanks :-)--Ieuan 13:20, 4 December 2008 (EST)

Naming convention - update

Hi - to put my mind at rest I checked up and Korean and Chinese names are also family name then given name. I think Korean names are "automatically" written that way - think Kim Il-sung and Kim Yong-il - Kim is the family name, but again I am not sure. --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 06:55, 7 December 2008 (EST)

That's what I thought. I had taken a course in Eastern culture in college, and I know it had covered this topic, but that seems like forever ago. Thanks for the update! WesleySHello! 11:04, 7 December 2008 (EST)

Reverting vandalism

Thanks for adding the cat tag on my MGS article.--Vmember 22:05, 14 December 2008 (EST)

Fanfare for the Common Man

I have just done Fanfare and put it into "terms". Have you thought of a cat. for individual pieces ("Music:classical works", perhaps?)Fanfare for the Common Man would go in it; and I have just done a link to Holst's The Planets to join it. There are lots of pieces of classical music that may end up having their own slot. AlanE 15:36, 16 December 2008 (EST)

That is a good idea. I had known that Fanfare was only a part of the whole, and is certainly the most recognizable piece. At the time I had thought 'Songs' was the most appropriate category. I will further subcategorize the 'songs' category, and create a new one for Fanfare and The Planets. Thanks for catching that! WesleySHello! 16:30, 16 December 2008 (EST)

Thanks

For your help on all the rosters. JY23 17:13, 19 December 2008 (EST)

No problem. Even Bronco fans and Steeler fans can work together!  :) WesleySHello! 19:47, 19 December 2008 (EST)
Well, congrats. All of the major sports rosters are finito. Now, I need to work on the actual pages of the soccer teams (Britain, to be specific). If you would like to help, that'd be great. All the info is on the Soccer teams in England page and the Premier League website. Thanks again and have a Merry Christmas! JY23 15:33, 24 December 2008 (EST)
Congrats to you as well. I'm not at all well versed in anything soccer-related, so I'll leave it to you to do most of what needs done. I'll try to contribute in some way. Otherwise, I'll keep my eyes peeled for signings/trades in the major sports to keep the rosters current. Merry Christmas to you as well!! WesleySHello! 15:36, 24 December 2008 (EST)
OK, that's fine. I've got a few teams to start articles on, and BrianCo & ETrundel tend to have the best soccer info. That's probably a good plan, I belive some of the trade deadlines are coming up. JY23 15:37, 24 December 2008 (EST)

Fallout Series

Glad to find a fellow fan! I've only been able to play the third game, though, as working copies of one and two are hard to find. But it seems that a certain someone isn't a fan of the Fallout series ;_; ETrundel 11:45, 30 December 2008 (EST)

I admit, the game is pretty dirty at times, but I can separate fiction from reality. I also haven't played 1 or 2, and I think I like 3 because I've been a fan of Bethesda games through the Elder Scrolls series. As for the 'certain someone', I can understand his view as well because the game, as I stated, can be dirty, and doesn't fit well with the site agenda. WesleySHello! 11:55, 30 December 2008 (EST)

Happy New Year!

From JY23 21:11, 31 December 2008 (EST)

No problem! I always look at the edits by the "red names". You are liable to find something strange! WesleySHello! 09:57, 3 January 2009 (EST)

Categories

As per your request yesterday, I have had a look at the various categories and your suggestions and done the following:

  • Category:Gonorrhea - deleted. I do not think we need that
  • Category:Deceit - added to category:Sin
  • Category:Articles for deletion - added to Category:Conservapedia Maintenance
  • Category:Deletion candidates - added to Category:Articles for deletion
  • Category:Maintenance added to Category:Conservapedia Maintenance

That leaves

  • Category:Methods of integration
  • Category:Classical Music
  • Category:Society

these are all unlocked and as the first two are empty, maybe they can be deleted too, although I would have thought all the Beethoven et all entries should be added to Classical music? --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 04:39, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Wow, thanks for the thorough work! As for Category:Classical Music, that was a category I started, but decided to reword the title as per conversations with User:AlanE. Beethoven and the like are in Category:Composers, so a deletion may be in order for Classical Music. Thanks again!! WesleySHello! 11:35, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Thanks

for reverting that vandal. You got them before I did. I shall delete classical music then. --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 12:07, 4 January 2009 (EST)

No biggie. I think I got them all, but I'll doublecheck. Thanks! Also, with all of the work done on reformatting the debate pages, it seems they've lost their categories. Can they go back into Category:Conservapedia Debates or are there other plans for them? WesleySHello! 12:08, 4 January 2009 (EST)
Oh no! How many are there? I suppose they should go there. Does the 'debate' template not automatically assign the category though? --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 12:20, 4 January 2009 (EST)
I guess it doesn't. There are about 40 in there now. I have time (after lunch) to take care of it. I wasn't sure if there was other plans for them, so I wanted to ask first. WesleySHello! 12:23, 4 January 2009 (EST)
You have my eternal gratitude! --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 12:26, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Favour

May I ask you one more favour, please. Everytime I try and load the diffs for that vandal PaulKr I keep timing out. Please can you try and revert those that have not yet been done? Thank you! --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 17:01, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Do not worry - figured out a way and the others took care of it. --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 17:14, 4 January 2009 (EST)
Sorry I couldn't assist. Everytime and every method I tried it timed out on me as well, then I couldn't get back on the site for 20 minutes. Glad it is taken care of, though. WesleySHello! 17:25, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Merry (belated) Christmas

I finished the actual template for the Steelers roster, just for you! (OK, so the actual improvement of the site was also a good reason, lol) JY23 18:20, 7 January 2009 (EST)

Hey, thanks! I hope we can avenge them lousy Chargers for you this weekend. WesleySHello! 18:56, 7 January 2009 (EST)
I hope so, too. I still think that the Titans will win the conference, though. JY23 18:27, 8 January 2009 (EST)
Never mind. Baltimore wins in a shocker. JY23 19:46, 10 January 2009 (EST)
Yeah, just what I needed. They always play us tough (except a certain Monday Night game last year where we put 35 points on them in the first half!). WesleySHello! 19:51, 10 January 2009 (EST)
I'm going to jump in here and point out that Pittsburgh does have Baltimore at home. It's almost impossible to beat a team 3 times in one season, though I would prefer Baltimore over Tenessee. Tennessee's offensive line is far superior to Baltimore's, plus their defense is able to get pressure only rushing 4 guys (not to mention the last time Pittsburgh played them they didn't have VanDenBosch (sp?) or Haynesworth). I was personally rooting for Baltimore, but let's look toward San Diego first! Jeffrey W. LauttamusDiscussion 20:00, 10 January 2009 (EST)
You are right. I'd rather have Baltimore than Tennessee, but I guess the Steeler fan in me just hates to see the Ravens do anything good. It is never a foregone conclusion that we'll win, just remember 11-10 from earlier in the year. But I have a good feeling! I'll be rocking the Casey Hampton jersey tomorrow, it always brings me luck. WesleySHello! 20:04, 10 January 2009 (EST)

(unindent)I have you beat. I have a Kordell Stewert jersey that I got in the 6th grade at Three Rivers Stadium. That one brings me luck. Darren Sproles will be slowed down a lot by the field, so I have high hopes about tomorrow. Get your terrible towel ready and keep the Iron flowing! Jeffrey W. LauttamusDiscussion 20:17, 10 January 2009 (EST)

You got me beat. I do have a Jerome Bettis LA Rams jersey, if that counts! WesleySHello! 23:51, 10 January 2009 (EST)

Lord of the Rings category

You may want to revise your new category, as there is already one covering Middle-earth. Karajou 17:19, 8 January 2009 (EST)

Thanks, Karajou. I was cleaning up the Special:WantedCategories page and didn't notice there was another LOTR category. It can be deleted now, as the page in the unnecessary category has been recategorized. WesleySHello! 17:24, 8 January 2009 (EST)

Category - Political People

As I stated before, "Political People" is really rinky-dink, and non descriptive. Would you check [here] and let me know what you think about the suggestions there? Thanks! --₮K/Admin/Talk 19:21, 8 January 2009 (EST)

This is true. I'll try to move as much as I can into subcategories, then make the major category "Politics" (which already exists). "Politicians" wouldn't work as that would include simply the elected/appointed officials, but gives the air that we are categorizing people and not terms. Suppose we put the people in 'Politics' and the terms, et al, in other categories? I'll take an evening to come up with a plan, then I'll check back with you. WesleySHello! 22:27, 8 January 2009 (EST)
How about Category:Biographies by Politics? The contents of Category:Political People can be moved there, and of course there will be more subcategorization to be done. I'll wait for approval. WesleySHello! 22:32, 8 January 2009 (EST)
I think I can ask nicely (perhaps) and get Ed Bot to do the heavy lifting. How would Statesmen work? We already have elected officials, for the U.S. and U.K, I think. --₮K/Admin/Talk 23:45, 8 January 2009 (EST)
Statesmen sounds great. I've already separated the international political people from the U.S. political people, so how about United States Statesmen and International Statesmen, with Statesmen as the top level category, just under Politics? Then we can separate into subcategories thusly. WesleySHello! 07:42, 9 January 2009 (EST) - On second thought, what of the people who aren't statesmen but are involved in politics (lobbyists, activists, etc.)? They surely couldn't be placed in the Statesmen category. Any thoughts for a category name for these types? WesleySHello! 15:02, 9 January 2009 (EST)
How about Statesmen as the top, under it officials, elected officials, and political figures?--₮K/Admin/Talk 19:53, 9 January 2009 (EST)
That works. I was racking my brain trying to come up with a synonym for Political People to no avail. I'll begin the move. WesleySHello! 19:58, 9 January 2009 (EST)

Great edits!

Great edits on the categorization. We need to shut off a bit early tonight (soon) for editing, but will start early Saturday morning. Hope to see you editing early tomorrow. Godspeed.--Andy Schlafly 23:31, 9 January 2009 (EST)

Thanks, Mr. Schlafly. I'll be back at it tomorrow because I'll probably be snowed in here in PA anyway. WesleySHello! 23:34, 9 January 2009 (EST)

Penguins Template

I noticed your work on the new Penguin player articles. Nice work! But, by the way, it may be easier to start working on the roster template for them first, you know, easier to get to. You can copy the source code from either my sandbox or at Template:PittsburghSteelers. Oddly enough, they both have basically the same color scheme. Let me know what you think. JY23 18:46, 12 January 2009 (EST)

Thanks a lot. Mr. Lauttamus did some as well. I'll give it a shot, but I've never done templates before. Hope it comes out OK! WesleySHello! 18:53, 12 January 2009 (EST)

I made a stats table for Sidney Crosby. Feel free to copy/paste on any players you may use. I'm going to make one for Fleury so we'll have goaltenders covered. Jeffrey W. LauttamusDiscussion 21:32, 12 January 2009 (EST)

Cool, man! Thanks! WesleySHello! 21:35, 12 January 2009 (EST)

Categories (NT)

It occurred to me that what we really need, to create something lasting and be used as a reference, is a line or box diagram for Categories. Are you any good at making such things? If not, we need to find someone who is, and put up a page that is nothing but that, for future reference, where future editors can be linked to, so we keep things cohesive. Am I making sense? --₮K/Admin/Talk 17:45, 13 January 2009 (EST)

Another thought: Politics...its a mess. I would suppose following our progression, that should be U.S.A. Politics, French Politics, etc.? --₮K/Admin/Talk 17:58, 13 January 2009 (EST)
Whew, just got home, the roads are icy. Anyhow, I once tried to make a suitable flowchart to no avail. Perhaps I can look further into wiki coding to see what I can do. As for the Politics category, I'll try to subcategorize what I can. It is probably a good idea to separate US politics from international, then breaking down the international ones by nation/region, all under one supercategory of Politics. Preferably, we have:
Politics
United States Politics
International Politics
British Politics
French Politics
Japanese Politics
etc.
Any page that covers both USA politics and international politics can simply be categorized in both USA and international. I'll see what I can do. I'll hold off on my state governors project until we get this sorted out. WesleySHello! 22:13, 13 January 2009 (EST)
I agree. Will head in that direction as I come across them, Wes. --₮K/Admin/Talk 22:49, 13 January 2009 (EST)
OK. WesleySHello! 22:50, 13 January 2009 (EST)
I added the category redirect requests for myself. I figure the first step of standardizing the major category is making sure the subcategories are consistent, insofar as capitalization of the titles. WesleySHello! 23:11, 13 January 2009 (EST)

Template Categories

No problem. However, I'm not sure how to fix that- I see some templates, such as Template:Bible Versions are under The Navbox category. So my question is, should we categorize templates or not? Maybe this is part of a bigger project. AddisonDM 20:09, 14 January 2009 (EST)

Your guess is as good as mine. I don't have much experience with templates, I know how to use them, not how to make them. I just happened to notice that stray category popped up in a couple of the political pages I'm categorizing. Maybe we should ask TK? WesleySHello! 20:13, 14 January 2009 (EST)

I don't know. Maybe we (mostly I!) should just get rid of the Navbox category in the normal content pages, and then do something about categorizing templates. I don't think we should bring in TK over this mistake- but I'm sure he can help with the template categorization. So, I think I'll browse through category:navigation box and remove the content pages. AddisonDM 20:16, 14 January 2009 (EST)

  • Sorry, too late, Addison! :p ::This was touched on before, I dimly remember. Perhaps it was PJR? Templates and all such would belong to Conservapedia Maintenance, I would think. That would stop extraneous templates, used only for navigation or information ending up in categories having to do with animals, or atomic energy, right? We need to refrain from removing content pages without some Administrator discussion over it, okay? --₮K/Admin/Talk 20:20, 14 January 2009 (EST)

Sorry!

Did not mean for you to apologise - was not criticising your great work, just making a little suggestion ^_^ --KotomiTohayougozaimasu 09:41, 15 January 2009 (EST)

That's OK. I'm breaking down the Politics category into smaller subcategories, then breaking them down even further. When we're done its going to look great (hopefully)! WesleySHello! 09:48, 15 January 2009 (EST)

Wow!

You've got a lot of work on your hands. If you need any more help with the roster templates or anything like that, go ahead and let me know. Best of luck, JY23 18:13, 15 January 2009 (EST)

Yeah, I'm swamped. I think my first priority is to take care of the Politics category. Once that's done, I'll work on some roster templates (they won't take as long as filing 900-ish pages), then get back to my governors. Whew! At least I know I won't have to worry about what I'm going to do in my free time for a month... WesleySHello! 22:00, 15 January 2009 (EST)

Very true, that's why I know so many people rooting for the Cards. I also know that the Cards have only been beating teams where 80% or more of their offense was the run game. Pittsburgh is pretty balanced, can the Cardinals reduce them to 1D? I'd say no, but only God knows. JY23 15:56, 19 January 2009 (EST)

It is great to see one of the few Pitt grads out there (as opposed to Miami, Ohio State, Penn State, etc) having what appears to be a fruitful career in the NFL. But still, Go Steelers!! Teamwork!

It seems we make a good team sorting out these vandals {^_^}. Good work - try not to let them get to you. It is annoying, I know. --KotomiTnandeyanen? 13:15, 18 January 2009 (EST)

We do make a good team! The vandals don't get to me at all. That is all part of having an online encyclopedia open for (almost) anyone to edit. Keep up the good work! FYI, I almost had a business trip next month to Tokyo for my company, but they are sending my boss instead. WesleySHello! 13:23, 18 January 2009 (EST)
Not fair! I hope you gave him a long shopping list! Hopefully next time you will get to go, especially as I will be living there permanently again from about mid-March, so I can play tour guide. I got a (bad) feeling...

...that it's going to be a much close game than we all think. GO STEELERS! Jeffrey W. LauttamusDiscussion 15:53, 1 February 2009 (EST)

I feel pretty confident in a win, but a close game it will be. I predict 34-28 STEELERS!! WesleySHello! 15:55, 1 February 2009 (EST)
