Volunteers for Life is a Pro-life program in Los Angeles comprised of work and prayer to change the culture from death to life. Per their website, "This involves not only a change of law and structure, but a change of heart." Sister Paula Vandegaer heads Volunteers for Life which was created in 1997 from her community, the Sisters of Social Service, with approval of Cardinal Roger Mahony of the Los Angeles Archdiocese.

Volunteers for Life's accomplishments include the establishment of a new pro-life counseling center called the Los Angeles Pregnancy Services, in partnership with International Life Services. Their location is unique, a downtown area of Los Angeles where seven abortion clinics reside in a one-mile section. A second location was added in a section of East L.A. that had zero Pro-life counseling clinics.
