Water fluoridation is the practice of putting fluorine compounds in drinking water with the intention of helping to prevent tooth decay.

Opposition to water fluoridation

Many opponents of water fluoridation point to studies showing that the fluorine compounds used are neurotoxic[1], may be ineffective at preventing tooth decay[2] and comprises involuntary medical experimentation upon an unsuspecting public[3]. The John Birch Society claimed for years that water fluoridation was a communist plot, drawing the mockery of the media[4].
