Willem-Alexander Claus George Ferdinand Jonkheer van Amsberg (27 April 1967 in Utrecht) is since 30 April 2013 the King of the Netherlands.

He is the eldest child of Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus, Jonkheer van Amsberg. He has one living younger brother, Constantijn, and one deceased brother, Friso (who died after being buried in an avalanche).

He was the first male Dutch royal baby since the birth of Prince Alexander in 1851, and the first immediate male heir since Alexander's death in 1884. As of 2018, he is the second-youngest monarch in Europe after King Felipe VI of Spain.

His spouse, Queen Maxima, is from Argentina and is of Basque, Portuguese, and Italian ancestry. The couple have three daughters: Catharina-Amalia (The Princess of Orange, who is next in line to inherit the throne), Alexia, and Ariane.

He is a part-time pilot.
