William Edwards Deming (October 14, 1900 – December 20, 1993) was a United States engineer, statistician, professor, author, lecturer, and management consultant.

He helped Japanese industry recover after World War II. In 1960 he was decorated by the emperor.

Deming founded the W. Edwards Deming Institute whose mission is to advance commerce, prosperity and peace.[1]
