William "Bill" Casey (1913–1987) was the smartest and perhaps most conservative member of the Reagan Administration, serving until he passed away amid the media-manufactured Iran-Contra affair. To President Ronald Reagan's credit, he appointed his strongest adviser to take charge of the Deep State, and thereby block its interference with Reagan's reforms.
Casey was the director of the CIA and reined in the Deep State, from 1981 to 1987.
He was the first to expose the Dem strategy of using an "October surprise" to try unfairly to win elections.
