Wycliffe Bible

The Wycliffe Bible was the first English translation of the Bible, published in 1382. Though associated with John Wycliffe, it is not known how much of the translation was actually done by him.
The Wycliffe Bible popularized many words in English that are now commonplace, such as "cubit" (a translation of the Greek term "pechus" and the Hebrew word "ammah", for the distance between the tip of the elbow and the tip of the middle finger as the hand is open and flat).
