Red beryl is a type of emerald that shows a deep, orange-purple to red hue color. It is one of the rarest minerals in the world, with no known sizes averaging larger than three carats. They can be found in only four locations in the United States, with two areas in Utah and New Mexico.

Known through other nicknames such as red emerald, scarlet emerald, and bixbite, the latter not to be confused with bixbyite. The red color is due to a substitution of manganese in the crystalline structure, rather than aluminium, which would give the trademark green color.

The largest faceted red beryl weighs 8.0 carats, and the largest crystal formation found approximately weighs 54 carats.[1]
