SAT Math Level II

The SAT Math Level II exam is designed for students who have covered three years of high school math. Topics covered include:

two years of algebra (operations and algebra)
one year of geometry (including coordinates and three dimensions)
pre-calculus elementary functions
trigonometry
data analysis, statistics and probability

Calculator use is essential for this exam, and it can help or even be necessary in 55-65 percent of the questions. A graphing calculator is preferred over a scientific calculator, but the test-taker must make sure that it is an allowed brand. It is recommended that a student uses a scientific calculator that they are familiar with rather than a graphing calculator that they do not know how to operate. Do not rely on only a four-function calculator and do not bring a calculator that uses QWERTY (typewriter-like) keypads, requires an electrical outlet, makes noises or talks, uses paper tape, or has any pen input capability. Powerbooks or handheld or laptop computers are expressly prohibited, as are pocket organizers and electronic writing pads.

Students good in math tend to take the Math Level II exam, and a relatively low percentile qualifies for a perfect 800 score. The exam grading system allows more erroneous answers in an 800 score than Math Level I does.
