Requiem

A Requiem is a funeral mass that generally includes a prayer for the soul, a time for general remembrance, and a moment for grief or expressed loss.

Classical music (often funded directly by the Church) has a long history of setting the Requiem to music. Some of the most famous include: Brahms' (non liturgical) Ein deutsches Requiem, Mozart's Requiem in D minor, and Verdi's Requiem.
