Who was "Charles the Hammer," and why was he important?

Charles “the Hammer” Martel let the Franks in a sound defeat against massive Muslim forces at the Battle of Tours in 732. If not for this pivotal defeat, all of Europe might have become Muslim.

Correct.

5. How many "pillars" of Islam are there? Pick two of them and discuss them briefly.

There are 5 “pillars” of Islam.

Prayer: Muslim prayer is very ritualized. Millions of Muslims turn towards Mecca every day and pray. It is required that Muslims pray 5 times a day every day, at day break, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset, and evening. Prayers are said in Arabic, regardless of your native language.

The Hajj: The Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. This is the fifth pillar of Islam, and must be carried out by every Muslim at least once in his lifetime. The pilgrimage takes place between the 8th and 12th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar.
