'''Robert Frost''' (1874–1963) was a popular 20th century [[American]] [[poet]] who lived in [[New England]].  He was a professor at Amherst College and for years he spent his summers at Middlebury College.  He never graduated from [[college]] himself. Frost was honored several times during his lifetime; he remarkably received four [[Pulitzer Prize]]s, tied for the most individual such prizes with Eugene O'Neill (Drama) and Robert E. Sherwood (3 for Drama and 1 for Biography).

His style emphasized the beauty of recited poetry.  His most famous poem is "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening," which reads as follows:<ref>This poem entered the [[public domain]] on January 1, 2019.</ref>

::Whose woods these are I think I know.
::His house is in the village, though;
::He will not see me stopping here
::To watch his woods fill up with snow.

In his poem "The Road Not Taken," Frost famously wrote, "I shall be telling this with a sigh, Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference."

Self-described as "a Madisonian-Washingtonian-Jeffersonian Democrat", Frost was characterized by Peter J.
