Pterosaurs (Greek "winged lizards") are an extinct order of flying reptiles that lived during the Mesozoic Era. They are believed to be the first vertebrates to achieve powered flight. Their varied skull morphology allowed them to exploit numerous food sources, and they ruled the air until the K-T extinction event.
