The Chicago Cubs are a Major League Baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois. Along with the Atlanta Braves, they are the only founding members of the National League still in that league. They are currently part of the Central Division of that league. They have been based in Chicago since their inception as the Chicago White Stockings in 1869, founded in response to the success of the all-professional Cincinatti Red Stockings.
The Chicago Cubs have been based in venerable Wrigley Field since 1914, although it had held previous names before 1926. Previously, they were based in Municipal Stadium.
The team is currently managed by Lou Piniella.
After the Boston Red Sox won the championship in 2004, the Cubs are considered the most cursed team in professional sports.
