Origen (185-254 A.D.) - a.k.a. Origen of Alexandria - was an early Christian philosopher, who lived in the East, and especially in Alexandria. His beliefs were heavily influenced by early Christian gnosticism and Eastern philosophies such as Neo-Platonism.

Some teachings of Origen were declared anathema, making him a heretic, in the decree of an ecumenical council, which also made the famous and influential philosopher Arius a heretic, as well.
