The Lamian War was the name given to the Greek revolt against Macedonian rule after the death of Alexander the Great. Demosthenes had once again used his great oratory skills to rally the Greeks against Macedon, but the Macedonian army under Antiper crossed the Greeks at two battles, the Battle of Crannon and the Battle of Amorgos. Demosthenes took poison and killed himself when the victorious Macedonians invested his home city of Athens.
