Paleoclimatology

Paleoclimatology is a scientific study dealing with the climate in the geologic past, along with the causes and effects of climatic conditions. A paleoclimatologist studies these geologic climatic conditions, which are reconstructed on the basis of evidence found in glacial deposits, fossils, sediments, and rock and ice cores. This research is valuable because it provides test situations for computerized climate modeling systems used to predict present-day climate changes.[1]
