Dominican Order

The Dominican Order, officially known as the Ordo Prædicatorum (Order of Preachers), is a Catholic religious order approved by Pope Honorius III in 1216.[1][2]

The three vows to belong to this order are:

  • poverty (but the ownership of books is allowed)
  • chastity
  • obedience
