A necktie is a piece of western clothing that is worn around the neck. Neckties are worn on top of shirts, and are worn around the collar of the shirt.
Neckties have been denounced by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmedinejad as a symbol of 'western decadence'. Since then most Iranians have stopped wearing neckties.
