Battered Fish

Up market version of fish and chips

Battered fish are delicacies normally served to accompany chips and mushy peas. Fish used is primarily cod, but can, in principle be any fish (such as hake, haddock or plaice) which is in plentiful supply.

Battered fish would normally be purchased from a local Fish and chip shop in Britain. Normally the batter is similar to that used to make pancakes, Yorkshire Puddings, toad-in-the-hole and fritters. However, there are many variants on batter recipes, some involving huge amounts of local beer [1] .
